Composer: best for automated stock, ETF and crypto portfolios

Composer lets you build strategies, which it calls symphonies, in a no-code visual editor, or describe your goal and let its AI assisted editor draft one for you. Its hybrid symphonies can hold stocks, ETFs and crypto inside a single automated strategy.

The free Starter plan includes unlimited no-code building and backtesting and lets you automate your first strategy. Advanced costs $10 per month for up to 5 automated strategies, and Pro is $32 per month billed yearly. Trades run through Composer's own brokerage, with Alpaca Securities and Apex Clearing handling execution and clearing. One honest limitation: Composer's help center says hybrid symphonies trade in a window from 3:45 to 4:00 PM Eastern on market days and only on a daily or threshold setting, so it suits rebalancing more than intraday entries. Where it beats Nvestiq today: it is live, free to automate one strategy, and lets you start from community strategies. We compare the two in more depth in Nvestiq vs Composer.

Good fit if you think in portfolios and allocation rules and want one account that builds, tests and trades.

Look elsewhere if you need intraday signals or want to keep trading through your current broker.

Option Alpha: best for automating options strategies

Option Alpha is built around options. Its site says you never have to learn to code: you start from prebuilt bot templates or build custom bots, and set the logic with natural language recipes in its automation editor. Bots can trade options and stocks, and a built in paper trading engine lets you test any bot before going live.

As of October 2026, Option Alpha costs $0 per month if you connect a qualifying TradeStation, Tradier or tastytrade account (minimum balances of $5,000 to $10,000 apply), or $99 per month billed yearly ($149 monthly) on Pro with any supported broker. Active broker integrations are Tradier, TradeStation, tastytrade and Charles Schwab (US only). The limitation: Interactive Brokers, E*TRADE and Firstrade are listed as not connected, and it has no active integrations for Canadian traders. For options automation it is ahead of Nvestiq, where options are still coming soon.

Good fit if you trade options spreads or income strategies and use one of its four supported brokers.

Look elsewhere if your broker is Interactive Brokers, or you mainly trade forex or crypto.

TrendSpider: best for testing strategies you already see on a chart

TrendSpider is a charting and research suite with a Strategy Tester that its pricing page describes as "No coding required." You assemble entry and exit conditions from indicators and patterns, then run multi symbol, variance and forward tests with slippage and cost adjustments. A tested strategy can become a Strategy Bot that stays online and manages the trade from entry to exit.

There is no free trading plan. As of October 2026 it sells four paid plans (Standard, Premium, Enhanced and Advanced), and the 14 day paid trial starts at $19. Every plan includes 5 free automated orders per month through SignalStack, its order routing service. The limitation: the Standard plan backtests no lower than a 2 hour timeframe, and heavier automation needs a SignalStack upgrade. Its charting, scanning and pattern tools go well beyond what Nvestiq offers.

Good fit if you want charting, scanning and backtesting in one subscription.

Look elsewhere if you want a free plan or only need a strategy builder, not a full charting suite.

NinjaTrader Strategy Builder: best for futures traders

NinjaTrader's Strategy Builder is a visual tool inside NinjaTrader Desktop. You select indicators, price values, session times and logical operators from menus in its Condition Builder, and it generates NinjaScript code behind the scenes. You then backtest in the Strategy Analyzer and run the strategy in NinjaTrader's simulator before enabling it live.

NinjaTrader's pricing page lists a free platform plan with per contract commissions ($1.29 per side on standard contracts, $0.39 on micros, plus exchange and NFA fees), a $99 monthly plan, or a $1,499 lifetime license with lower commissions. The limitation: NinjaTrader says the builder suits simple or moderately complex strategies, and more advanced ideas may require NinjaScript, its C# based language. For futures automation today, it is the stronger choice over Nvestiq.

Good fit if you trade index, energy or metals futures and want strategies close to your execution platform.

Look elsewhere if you trade stocks, ETFs or crypto.

Coinrule: best for beginners automating crypto rules

Coinrule is a crypto bot platform with a visual rule builder where you select conditions and actions, for example buy when RSI falls below 30. It offers more than 350 template strategies you can activate with one click. It supports major spot and futures exchanges including Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, OKX, Bybit and Hyperliquid, and lists stock and ETF access via Trading 212, E*Trade, Webull, Public and Alpaca.

As of October 2026, Coinrule has a free plan with limited rules and demo trading, and paid plans start at $29.99 per month. The limitations: its site says services are not available to residents of the EU or EEA, and the pricing table lists a 0.02% fee on traded volume for paid tiers alongside the subscription, so read the current terms. For crypto exchange coverage and ready made templates it is ahead of Nvestiq.

Good fit if you are new to automation and want to start with templates on a crypto exchange you already use.

Look elsewhere if you live in the EU or EEA, or your strategy needs logic beyond trigger and action rules.

Cryptohopper: best for hands off crypto bots

Cryptohopper is a cloud crypto trading bot. You configure a bot with strategies built in its Strategy Designer, download a preconfigured template, or follow third party signals. It connects to exchanges including Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, KuCoin, OKX, Bitvavo and Crypto.com, and it includes paper trading and backtesting.

As of October 2026, Explorer costs $29 per month ($24.16 per month billed yearly), Adventurer $69 and Hero $129, with a 3 day free trial of Explorer. The limitation: lower tiers cap the number of coins you can trade and set a longer strategy interval (10 minutes on Explorer), and its AI strategy designer is only on Hero. It covers more crypto exchanges than Nvestiq.

Good fit if you want a crypto bot running around the clock with many coins and exchange choices.

Look elsewhere if you trade stocks or ETFs, or want a free plan.

Capitalise.ai: best for plain English rules on an existing broker

Capitalise.ai turns everyday English into trading automation. You write a scenario such as an indicator condition with a trailing take profit, then backtest, refine and simulate it. It can also use TradingView alerts as triggers. Its help center explains how to connect an Interactive Brokers account.

Capitalise.ai's site does not list pricing or a full set of supported markets. Kraken announced in August 2025 that it acquired Capitalise.ai's technology and planned a phased rollout inside Kraken Pro. The limitation: connecting Interactive Brokers requires printing, signing and emailing a form. It is the closest product to Nvestiq in approach; see Nvestiq vs Capitalise.ai for how the two differ.

Good fit if you want to write rules in English and already use a broker it connects to.

Look elsewhere if you need published pricing or want to export your strategy as code.

Nvestiq: best for rules you can describe but don't want to code

Nvestiq is a no-code platform where you describe a strategy in plain English, for example "buy SPY when the 14 day RSI falls below 30 and exit when it rises above 60 or the position loses 5%". The AI interprets your description, but a deterministic strategy compiler produces the trading logic. It is never freeform code written by a language model, so the same description always gives the same strategy, and the logic is checked against what you described.

The backtest report covers what it made, what it cost to hold, and whether to believe it, including a buy and hold comparison that flags when buy and hold beat your strategy and a 0 to 100 Nvestiq score. You paper trade first, and before any live order routes you confirm by typing the ticker. The same compiled strategy that ran the backtest runs live on Nvestiq paper trading or Interactive Brokers, and you can export it as Python, Pine Script or JSON. Markets are equities, ETFs, forex and crypto. Nvestiq is in early access: a free tier is planned and pricing is published at launch.

Good fit if you have rules in your head, want the tested logic to be the deployed logic, or want code you can take elsewhere.

Look elsewhere if you need options or futures automation today, a broker other than Interactive Brokers, or a platform that is generally available now.

If you can code

QuantConnect is not no-code: you write algorithms in Python or C#, per its documentation. Its pricing page lists a free plan with unlimited backtesting as of October 2026. It is the stronger choice for developers who want full control.

How we compared them

We judged each platform on five criteria:

  • What the builder can express. Templates and menus are fast, but a builder that cannot state your exit rule forces you to trade a different strategy than the one you meant.

  • Whether tested logic equals deployed logic. If the strategy is rebuilt or translated between backtest and live, every difference is untested risk. Why your backtest doesn't match live trading explains how this gap shows up.

  • Cost realism. We looked for commission, slippage and holding cost modeling, because a backtest without costs flatters short holding periods.

  • Live execution. Which brokers or exchanges a strategy can actually trade on, and whether paper trading comes first.

  • Price. The lowest price at which you can automate a strategy, taken from each vendor's own page as of October 2026.

How to choose

  • Long term stock and ETF investor who wants rules based rebalancing: Composer.

  • Futures trader: NinjaTrader Strategy Builder.

  • Crypto beginner: Coinrule for templates and a free plan; Cryptohopper for more coins and exchanges.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best no-code algo trading platform for beginners?

It depends on what you trade. As of October 2026, Composer has a free plan for stock and ETF strategies and Coinrule has a free plan with templates for crypto. Option Alpha is the common pick for options, and NinjaTrader Strategy Builder for futures.

Can I automate a trading strategy without coding?

Yes. Visual builders like Composer, Coinrule and NinjaTrader Strategy Builder let you assemble rules from menus, and Capitalise.ai and Nvestiq let you write rules in plain English. Most of them support paper trading so you can watch the strategy before risking money.

What is the best AI trading platform for building strategies?

Composer offers an AI assisted editor that drafts strategies from a description, Cryptohopper includes an AI strategy designer on its Hero plan, and Nvestiq uses AI to interpret plain English while a deterministic compiler produces the actual trading logic. Check whether the AI writes the logic itself or only helps you specify it.

Is no-code algorithmic trading safe?

The software removes coding errors, not market risk. A strategy can still lose money, and a strategy that looks good in a backtest can be overfit. Paper trade first, model costs, and follow a automated trading checklist before any real money goes in.

Are there free no-code trading platforms?

As of October 2026, Composer and Coinrule list free plans, Option Alpha costs $0 per month with a qualifying broker account, and NinjaTrader has a free platform plan with per contract commissions. TrendSpider and Cryptohopper list no free plan. Nvestiq plans a free tier at launch.

Which no-code platform lets me export my strategy as code?

Nvestiq exports strategies as Python, Pine Script and JSON. NinjaTrader's Strategy Builder generates NinjaScript that you can open and edit inside NinjaTrader. The other platforms here did not list strategy code export on the vendor pages we checked.
